Mid century ashwood and leather dining set by Jordi Vilanova Bosh

About the designer: Jordi Vilanova Bosch (Barcelona, ​​1925-1998) was a Catalan interior designer and cabinetmaker who worked for more than forty years in the middle of the 20th century in Barcelona. His modern furniture and his way of resolving spaces were originally aimed at a large public with little financial resources and, therefore, little living space. But this great majority did not understand his proposal and it was the Catalan bourgeoisie and with a desire to break with outdated stylistic canons that accepted his work. A true pioneer of modern design, his work was characterized by the production of small series and the desire to formulate a Mediterranean aesthetic. A great admirer and connoisseur of Nordic design, Vilanova is known as the introducer in Spain and Catalonia of white wood furniture, that is, a piece of furniture without color or glossy varnishes, functional, simple and refined, giving it a line of Mediterranean tradition. About the dining room set: Limited Edition Jewels by Jordi Vilanova. Set consisting of six dining chairs made of solid ash wood and an extendable table, joinery work in the early 1960s. The chairs are an edition with seats composed of eight interspersed leather strips. If already in itself, today it is practically impossible to find a set of six of these chairs, it is even more unlikely to make it from this edition, with a seat that uses the same system as the Tiracord model, since most of them were made with straw seat. They are in original condition, without modifications and in excellent vintage condition, with few and slight signs of use. The table has two wings that can be inserted to make it larger and able to accommodate eight people. Chair measurements: Height 115 cm. Seat height 44.5 cm. Width 44.5 cm. Depth 45 cm.
