Over dit vintage designmeubel
This metal bookcase was designed by Friso Kramer for De Bijenkorf, and manufactured by Asmeta in the Netherlands in 1953. This piece was designed by Kramer at the request of Martin Visser and was intended to be used as a shelf in the style of the De Bijenkorf department store in the Netherlands. It is made of white, dark blue and yellow metal. An eye-catching piece in industrial style that can be used as a bookcase, cupboard or room divider. The piece is in good vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, and retains a nice patina. Friso Kramer was born in Amsterdam in 1922. As an industrial and furniture designer and as a member of influential groups and movements, Kramer's ideas and creations consistently helped propel the modernist aesthetic of the Netherlands. From 1948 to 1963 he was employed by De Cirkel, where he designed some of his most iconic pieces. A retrospective exhibition of his work was held at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in 1977. In 1979 Friso was awarded the title of "Royal Designer for Industry" by the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce) in London.
