Vintage sofa from the Artona collection by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Maxalto, Italy 1975

Large 2-seater sofa, designed in 1975 by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Maxalto, B&B's high-end brand. Walnut wood with ebonized wood inserts, original velvet covering. In very good condition, slight traces of use, the velvet is still in excellent condition and the upholstery shows no particular signs of sagging. Note a slight dent on the right armrest. The furniture designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa has quickly established itself as a benchmark in Italian design. A collection of fine wooden furniture entirely "made in Italy". In the age of plastic, where enthusiasm points to other avenues of experimentation, the choice to use wood is both counterintuitive and very bold.
