Over dit vintage designmeubel
Cornaro sofa, set by Carlo Scarpa for Simon, turquoise velvet, solid wood, Italy 1973. Carlo Scarpa's "Cornaro" sofa is an example of the ultrarazional style, which breaks with the strict limits of rationalism. The result is a sofa with a solid hardwood structure and a single side and back cushion attached to the corners of the frame. The sofa has a very thick cushion and is upholstered with turquoise velvet fabric. Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978) is known as a virtuoso of light, a master of detail and a connoisseur of materials. He is best known for his architectural projects, of which there are 58 in total. The most famous are the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona, the Olivetti Exhibition Hall in Venice and the Brion Tomb in San Vito d'Altivole. Its lush use of decorative aspects and handcrafted details is still unsurpassed. His drawings show very clear strokes of Scarpa's aesthetic language, which is halfway between Japanese minimalism and the organic forms of nature. The material: Leather, velvet, walnut. W 220 cm, D 85 cm, H 65 cm, SH 42 cm
