Vintage Diabolo floor lamp by Joseph-André Motte, 1960

Diabolo floor lamp by Joseph -André Motte I propose you here a mythical piece of the 60s. This floor lamp imagined by Joseph-André Motte could be a contemporary production so much its design is modern and timeless. A minimalist and fine design, its diabolo shape makes us believe in a fragility but it is not. The base is made of solid exotic wood lacquered black. Hollow underneath to incorporate a weight, the floor lamp is quite heavy and stable. Above, a beautiful opaline glass comes to prolong the shape of the base. It is maintained by a metal disc protected with cork. The lighting is very pleasant and diffuses a circle above. The whole is well preserved despite some traces of time. There are some small cracks at the base of the glass but they are invisible in situation and do not weaken the glass. The black color is still very nice and satiny. See pictures.
