Scandinavian vintage rosewood sideboard by Axel Christensen for Aco Møble, 1960

Beautiful tall rosewood sideboard by designer Axel Christensen for the furniture company Axel Christensen Odder - ACO Møbelfabrik in the 1960s. This vintage sideboard is often confused with the Danish Omann Jun's model 19. In contrast to Omann Jun's work, the lines of this sideboard are curved and light. The top and bottom rails follow an identical curve which gives a curved look and a look that in a sense anticipates the space age style that would appear a decade later. It has four sliding doors that reveal two large adjustable height shelves on the right and a series of six drawers lined with green felt and two new smaller shelves on the left. Its solid rosewood base is composed of four tapered legs joined by two beautiful struts. The work on the veneer is of very high quality. Whether it is the symmetry of the front door patterns or the frames, the wood is enhanced by its play of shapes and colors. The interior is also worked in rosewood. The label of the manufacture is still present inside.
