Pair of vintage lacquered wood & brass desks by Jean Claude Mahey, 1970s

Beautiful pair of desks from the French designer Jean Claude Mahey. These desks are edited in the middle of the 1970s and are entirely in lacquered wood and brass finish. One is black while the other one is white or rather cream close to white. The two together form a beautiful and complementary pair of desks. Indeed, the top is decorated with a brass "marquetry" and the handles are also in brass. The contrast of lacquered wood and brass is a characteristic of Jean Claude Mahey's work for Romeo. These desks are of superior quality and typically describe the elegance of French furniture from the 1970s-1980s. It has 3 drawers in the waist that uncover a light wood still making a very nice contrast with the exterior. The lacquer is in very good condition on the black one and in good condition on the white one which shows more light wear. Minimal and normal use marks. A very slight mark on the brass on the back of the black desk. The same on the base of the right foot of the white. The white one is slightly higher.
