Vintage painted wood desk by Cees Braakman for Pastoe 1950s

Superb desk of the Dutch designer Cees Braakman edited by Pastoe in the 1950s. Not only its design is atypical but its finishing of colors and varnish give it a very particular charm. It rests on 3 pinned legs with 3 branches. Its box is worked in varnished oak veneer with a nice frame and its 3 drawers are in red painted wood. The top has 2 parts, a free-form lower part in matt blackened wood and a classic top with a laminated surface with a storage niche between the 2 parts. This desk is rich in contrasts, both in terms of design, colors and finishes but the whole forms a beautiful harmony. The top has classic wear marks. Rare and original model.
