Vintage bentwood dining set in black metal and electric blue Danish 1980s

Space saving vintage Danish dining set featuring a black topped oval dining table and 6 stackable Jørgen Gammelgaard bentwood and steel dining chairs. Designed by Jørgen Gammelgaard in the 1980’s the Skagen chair (produced by Schiang) was lauded for it’s simple minimalistic design and also because the 6 chairs easily stack when not in use. These particular chairs feature an ebonised back rest on metal supports and is complimented by the electric blue upholstery. The chairs are a perfect fit with the table not only in colour but also in shape and form as the chairs push almost all the way under the table to create a small foot print. On this basis it’s a clever marriage of elements given that it seats 6 and yet the total dimensions with the chairs in place as shown in the first few pictures takes up just over a 2m x 1.2m space. Both the table and chairs are in good vintage condition with marks commensurate with age. With the chairs this amounts to little knocks in the silver powder coated frame and a few marks in the black wood backs – the upholstery however, is in virtually unmarked condition with no stains, rips or holes. The table has a pressure treated black melamine top which can look a little rippled in certain lights, which I’ve tried to show in the close up of the top, but it doesn’t detract from the overall appeal. It also has a couple of very small nibbles out of the edge but no other major marks at all to the top. All marks mentioned above have been highlighted in the pictures that accompany this description.
