Vintage bull leather armchair by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina 1987

A timeless design by the famous Italian designer Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) for Cassina; the Bull armchair. Produced only in 1987 by Cassina, this design is becoming increasingly rare. What is remarkable about this design is that the armrest, backrest and headrest are perfectly integrated and form an envelope around the seating area. This guarantees maximum seating comfort. Especially because the entire sofa is very well upholstered thanks to the use of thick, high-quality leather. The base frame of the chair is made of metal and then upholstered with foam. In addition, each leather segment is attached to the frame with a zip. Each segment has its own zipper and can therefore be removed independently for cleaning and/or upholstery. The lacquered metal legs are screwed onto the metal base frame and even the underside of the chair is made of a high-quality rubber base plate. The feet themselves give the chair a levitating effect, thus visually reducing the massiveness of the upper part. The whole design is built on a very clever logic and it is extremely well constructed, which is why it is regrettable that Cassina decided to produce this design for only one year. This special armchair is characterised by brown-grey natural leather and black lacquered legs. The armchair is in very good general condition, with only two scratches in the leather visible on the left armrest and a small damage repaired on the lower rubber underlay.
