It is round, user-friendly and well thought-out, it is resolutely modern and very design-oriented. Eero Saarinen designed the table with the promise of cleanliness, comfort and aesthetics: he vowed to tackle the "ugly, confusing and remorseless world" he observed under chairs and tables - the so-called "leg shanty". After five years of design studies, he created the revolutionary Pedestal collection, which was launched in 1958 so that there would be no more dust under the legs of tables and chairs. The table top is made of white marble with grey veins. A satin protective coating ensures the tabletop's durability with a natural look.
