Vintage leather desk by Matteo Grassi, 1980

Very rare set of executive desk and pedestal designed and edited by Matteo Grassi. It is an exceptional piece, almost unique, entirely worked in green leather outside and black leather inside. This set was edited in the 1980's, at the peak of the Italian designer Matteo Grassi's work. The desk presents a pure, radical and flexible line. The green leather top has a black leather working part reminding the interior of the desk and the structure of the pedestal. This same top is bevelled on both edges. The leather of the tray has a patina, with stains and scratches that blend into the leather without disturbing its aesthetic. The work on the stitching of the leather is of very high quality. This desk on four circular legs in metal slightly shiny very original whose diameter is 10cm. The proportions are perfectly harmonious, the total length is 184cm while the width is half, 92cm. A small drawer opens in the belt. The cube-shaped pedestal, 56 x 56 x 60cm, opens to four drawers in front. It rests on four plastic wheels typical of the 1980s. It is also patinated, especially the third drawer has two holes plugged and made up. The signature Matteo Grassi is present on the last drawer. It is a set bought from an Italian diplomat living in France.
