Über dieses Vintage-Designmöbel

A well maintained Rotaflex brass and plastic pendant lamp. It creates a beautiful warm glow with its characteristic spun plastic pattern. The plastic is attached to 3 shiny brass rings and held together by a metal construction. Designer and producer unknown. Rotaflex is essentially a manufacturing process rather than a brand or producer. Originally, Rotaflex was the method of molding cellulose acetate into lampshades, patented in 1946 by Danish civil engineers Bent Højberg Pedersen and Bent Panker. In 1960, after years of licensing the manufacturing process, Pedersen and Panker founded a Danish company called Rotaflex. The cellulose acetate is supplied through a fine nozzle on a mould that rotates creating a spiral of plastic thread. The light that passes through the shades creates a distinct warm and pleasant glow. The term Rotaflex is most often used in combination with the name Heifetz, in reference to Yasha Heifetz who ran the US-based company "Heifetz Rotaflex" established in 1955. Heifetz was originally the US distributor for the British company "Rotaflex Great Britain LTD". Most of the Rotaflex lamps you see on the internet today are said to be Heifetz, but few of them are. Very few of these lamps were marked and there is much confusion. The first manufacturer of lamps to use the term Rotaflex was the French company ARP (Atelier de Recherches Plastiques). They were distributed and sold by many different companies in Europe who all took credit for its origin. This particular lamp from Sweden is probably made by Bergboms, Sweden or Stockman Orno, Finland, unless it was imported. Good condition, no breaks or cracks. Standard E 27 bulb holder.
