Vintage round coffee table in beech and sculptural glass Netherlands 1990

This contemporary piece is a handmade round coffee table in oak wood and round glass. It was made by an unknown artist from the province of Zeeland in the 1990s, probably in the artists' village of Domburg. Although no official provenance is provided, the table was acquired from an elderly man living in Domburg who bought it in a Domburg gallery somewhere in the 1990s. He mentioned that he was a rising Dutch artist at the time. Domburg is a city in Zeeland, on the west coast of the province, which borders directly on the North Sea. It is known as a fashionable beach village, with a lot of history attached to it. The town has a rich history of aristocracy and artists. For example, the famous painter Piet Mondriaan lived in Domburg for a long time and Jan Toorop was born and grew up in Domburg. The village subsequently had a long history of artists. This specific table is handmade and is certainly a sight to behold. The lines are very simple, but the sloping beech top, crossed by the carved beech leg, allows a very interesting play of lines. The glass plate rests on the top and the foot and offers more stability than it seems at first glance. The whole table has a very simplistic and minimalist look, while at the same time being very elegant. The table is in near new condition with extremely limited wear.
