Scandia vintage swivel armchair in full grain leather and rosewood by Hans Brattrud, Norway 1959

Hans Brattrud swivel lounge armchair in rosewood and leather, of Norwegian origin from the 1960s. This "Scandia" armchair has been fully restored and our leather expert has created a new cushion and headrest made of high quality, full grain, naturally tanned or cognac brown Sørensen leather. The curved seat with rosewood slats is elegantly constructed and truly eye-catching. It is a valuable object and a comfortable chair in any interior. We have restored this room with the utmost care and attention. The room is again of high quality. The chair has a chrome-plated base with a swivel mechanism that can also tilt backwards and the angle of the seat can be adjusted. Seat height 40 cm. Hans Brattrud (born 1933) designed the Scandia Chair in 1957 as part of a student project at the National College of Art & Design in Oslo. The chair was revolutionary in both form and expression. It was an ingenious construction that also gave rise to a unique and timeless design. In 1967, the stacking chair was awarded the gold medal at the International Fair of Arts and Crafts in Munich.
