Vintage chair by Rud Thygesen and Niels Roth Andersen

A unique desk or occasional chair made of cherry wood and leather, 1st edition 1999, by Danish master craftsmen Rud Thygesen and Niels Roth Andersen Famous for producing furniture for Danish King Frederik IX in 1970, Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sørensen went on to create furniture collections that caught everyone's attention. Rewarded for their creations and innovations, they became part of the second generation of great Danish designers of the 20th century. With their creations on permanent display in many design museums, including the V&A in London and MoMA in New York, it would have been easy for them to continue designing together and to settle into a system of development and manufacturing. For Thygesen, such collaboration brought him to the door of master carpenter Niels Roth Andersen. Andersen was himself recognized as a master craftsman and among his many awards, he was recently honored by the continued production of Finn Juhl's extraordinary Chieftain Chair. Together they have produced a number of designs, including this chair which was first presented "Snedkernes Efterårsudstilling" in 1999. Looking at the chair, it is clear that it is handmade through jointing and finishing work and is therefore considered to be the only chair of its kind in existence. Presented in very good condition, the structure is made of cherry wood, complemented by a mahogany-coloured leather seat. A truly unique first edition, this remarkable, beautifully proportioned and comfortable chair can be used as an office or dining room chair, or as a side or occasional chair.
