Über dieses Vintage-Designmöbel

A classic minimalist daybed designed by Gijs van der Sluis in the 1950s and manufactured in the Netherlands by Gispen. This sofa’s sleek, minimalists lines has been a favourite of Interior Designers and discerning buyers for over 60 years and still looks as fresh and modern as it did when it was first produced. As such it easily fits within various décor concepts and is both comfortable and easy to live with. In its main seating position it’s a comfortable 3-4 seat sofa but it can be easily adapted into a daybed or more lounging sofa by simply lifting the front of the seat and pulling forwards. This particular sofa is unusual in that it comes complete with both matching arm rests (an add on option when first purchased) that have been upholstered in charcoal fabric as a contrast to the main white of the sofa. But it also has a wedge shaped head cushion which can either be used when the sofa is set in its Daybed configuration or could also be used as a lumbar support, as shown in one of the pictures. The arm and head cushions can of course either be used with the Daybed or not – some prefer the look without arm rests, some don’t, but in any event as they are supplied as a set it’s your choice The set is in very good condition with the black metal frame in original condition and almost certainly the upholstery is more recent rather than original. The white, lightly textured fabric has been professionally cleaned and is now virtually mark free and has also been Scotchguarded to help protect the fabric from future use.
