Über dieses Vintage-Designmöbel

This pair of chairs, model 7512, was designed for Fredericia Furniture AS in 1981 as part of the Classic Kings Furniture series, which has been designed since 1969, named such because the Danish King Frederik IX received some of the models as gift when he turned 70 in 1969. The Kings Furniture series has become a true Classic in Danish design. The chairs are well crafted and in good condition, made of mahogany frame, leathered seats and woven back with a graceful curve on the back rest. Johnny Sørensen was born in Helsingør, son of factory workeres and appointed as unskilled helper at the local shipbuilders, from where he advanced to the carpenter shops, where he met Jørn Utzon, son of world famous Danish architect Jørn Utzon, the man behind the Sydney Opera House. He ended his appreticeship in 1963 producing a writing table in rio rosewood. Admitted to the Art School in Copenhagen he met his future partner Rud Thygesen, with whom he opened a business in 1966. Rud Thygesen and Johnny Sørensen sequently evolved as renowned furniture designers, showerede by prestigious awards like the Carpenter Guilds furniture competition’s first prize, the Jubilee prize from the National Bank of Denmark and many others. Their works are shown at the Danish Design Museum ion Copenhagen, The Design Museum in Oslo, Victoria and Albert Museum in London and in the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
