Über dieses Vintage-Designmöbel

Armchair B3, created around 1925 by Marcel Breuer at the Bauhaus. It takes its name from the painter Vassily Kandinsky who fell in love with it. The chassis consists of 9 chrome tubular sections screwed together to give the impression of a single piece. The backrest and armrests, originally made of fabric, were replaced by leather in later versions. The use of steel tubes was very innovative in the 1920s. Marcel Breuer is one of the first to reveal the possibilities of this new material. Breuer's source of inspiration is his bicycle. The handlebars, made of curved metal tubes, gave him the idea of using tubular steel for furniture. The Vassily b3 is also clearly inspired by English club chairs. Breuer removed the volume and only kept the skeleton. The chair was published by Thonet in 1928, by Gavina from 1962 to 1968 and by Knoll from 1968 to the present day. This is a model from the 1980s, the edition of which is unknown. Good general condition. Some rubbing marks on the leather. Dimensions: Height 73 cm. Width 79 cm. Depth 69 cm. Seat height 42 cm.
