Set of 13 vintage Mah Jong Missoni home sectional sofas by Hans Hopfer for Roche Bobois

Originally designed by Hans Hopfer for Roche Bobois in 1971, the Mah Jong sofa has become a design classic. Since its original conception, Roche Bobois has collaborated with a variety of design houses to upholster the sofa, and this set features fabric from the Missoni Home range. Comprising of thirteen pieces made up of nine floor cushions, three backs and one corner, the set is upholstered in a mixture of colours, fabrics and textures to create a bright and bold combination. The nine square floor cushions are button tufted and finished in a variety of colours including orange, pink, rainbow and a grey and purple geometric velvet. The corner unit is upholstered in a light pink fabric with a faded floral motif, whilst the straight back modules are upholstered in a yellow, orange and pink striped Missoni Home fabric, a striped pink and grey corduroy material, and a velvet grey respectively. The 3 back pieces are height adjustable and recline in 3 settings. Incredibly versatile, the floor cushions can be stacked to create different heights, while the modular set can be configured into a corner or arranged to create a variety of seating options. The informal style of the sofa gives a relaxed and playful aesthetic, while the combination of comfort and flexibility makes it the perfect option for any contemporary living space.
