A proposito di questi mobili di design vintage
Carafe in Silver Plate, with the handle placed laterally with respect to the spout, designed by Carlo Scarpa for Cleto Munari in 1977. In very good condition, some small lack of silvering, documented in photos, signs of oxidation on the inside of the bottom. Carlo Scarpa was born on 2 June 1906 in Venice where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in 1926. From 1927 to 1930 he collaborated with the Murano glassmaker MVM Cappellin & Co. Starting from 1932 he began working with Paolo Venini’s glassworks, of which he was appointed artistic director, a position he held until 1946. Between 1935 and 1937, Scarpa completed his first demanding work, the arrangement of the Ca ’Foscari in Venice, seat of the homonymous university. His activity was not interrupted even during the Second World War although, of course, after 1945 it will resume more vigorously. The construction of the Book Pavilion in the gardens of the Biennale in the early 1950s was of particular importance. In 1956 he obtained the Olivetti National Prize for architecture and the same company commissioned him to arrange an Olivetti exhibition space in Piazza San Marco in Venice, but in the same year he was accused by the Order of Architects of practicing the profession illegally and therefore brought in court. In 1978 he received an honorary degree in architecture from the University of Architecture in Venice, thus putting an end to the controversy over the legitimacy of his work. Unfortunately, he was unable to attend the handover ceremony as he died in Japan on November 28 due to a trivial accident.
