Charlotte Meal Set by Kerstin Horlin-Holmquist for Asko, 1960

Scandinavian Catering Service Designed for Asko by renowned Swedish designer Kerstin Horlin-Holmquist, this exquisite dining room is a striking example of 1960s Scandinavian style. This ebonized set has been re-covered in a rich turquoise blue and has two extra leaves to accommodate additional guests (up to 10 people). As a rule, Kerstin Horlin-Holmquist has designed furniture mainly for the Swedish manufacturer NK. However, this range, known as The Charlotte, was specially created for Asko, a well-known and respected Finnish designer who was the largest Nordic furniture manufacturer in the middle of the 20th century. With legs and backs made of traditional Finnish slats, the chairs are light and typically Scandinavian, without compromising their strength and stability, although the wood finish shows some surface marks, which is normal due to age and use.
