Mid-century, side table with magazine rack,Scandinavian 1950s

Extremely unique, mid-century, vintage, Scandinavian-style, side table end table, with built-in magazine rack and small drawer with a bakelite ashtray from France, 1950’s. Made of Beechwood, this "Mad Men" era designed piece, features two, angled shapes at the bottom that resemble oars, to form a very cool & sleek space in which to place magazines. The legs extend upwards and meet with the upper shelf, to form beautiful, curved handles with rounded edges, so it’s extremely easy to move around. Just underneath the shelf on the front right, is a small drawer with a brass knob, that has a copper patina. Inside, is a circular, cut-out space, (almost like a cup holder) that holds the ashtray with the 50’s logo for "Progilite", a known, French manufacturer of bakelite at this time. These days, it could be used to keep coins or other small objects. This piece is in excellent, original condition, as it’s been well-maintained over the years, with light signs of age and use, commensurate with time. It has been gently dusted and oiled, to maintain the warm, rich colors with respect to the patina of time. This table is rather versatile, in that it can be used in many ways: as a small side or end of couch table, plant stand or nightstand. The fact that it has the drawer and magazine rack below with sleek lines, makes it that much of a special accent piece that will compliment any given interior.
