Armchair vintage Model 91 Wing Back by Svend Skipper for Skipper, Danish 1950s

This rare Danish Svend Skipper chair comes with full galore and volume. Tremendously recognisable design and testament to the midcentury design era. This particular 1950s design is a Model 91 ’Papa Bear’ from the Skipper Møbelfabrik and is fully reupholstered with the Ploeg wool Accent 0108. Please do appreciate this chair is not to be recognized for Hans Jørgen Wegner’s Papa Bear chair. This Svend Skipper chair features a teak base as well as sculpted teak "paws" at the end of the arms. The fat sides, high back and big ears not only provide for that coveted silhouette but add to the comfort of this chair. The ergonomics of this chair are fantastic and that is not a given in design furniture. We had it recently upholstered in a De Ploeg wool to stay as close as possible to the design quality. The fabric selected is Ploeg Accent 0108 a 100 pure wool and really adds to the quality of this piece. The teak base has been re-oiled and is in excellent condition. Overall this chair is in an excellent vintage condition. Svend Skipper was a designer and furniture producer, who made only on commission.
