Vintage "Deauville Collection" Serving Dish from Salins, 1950s

Mid-century, vintage, coral-colored, fruitserving vessel with lid. from the "Deauville Collection", made by Salins, France, circa 1950’s. Piece has been stamped with the Salins, France maker’s mark and "corail", one of many playful colors produced during this epoch. The beautifully designed, unique rectangular shape with rounded edges and its and its lid are in good, original condition with traces of use consistent with age and time (see photos.) ~ Small chip at the bottom of the base. ~ There are visible cracks on both the body and lid, that were glued at some point during its 60+ year history, making it more of a decorative piece for today’s MCM living spaces, or as storage for smaller objects. The distinct and unique texture of the faience, is like woven burlap, with a smooth glaze that enhances its vibrant, coral-orange, color. The sleek design embodies the playful, post-war aesthetic of the age. A classic, timeless and collectible serving piece for the table, as well as chic, display for any MCM setting.
