Vintage Glass vase from Hortensja Glassworks, Poland 1960s

The vase comes from Huta Hortensja, it was made in the 1960s. The vase is made of glass in the characteristic shape of a lily flower. We evaluate the condition of the item as very good. Dimensions: height 23 cm diameter 11 cm base diameter 8 cm Dimensions in inches: height 9.1 in diameter 4.3 in base diameter 3.1 in After World War I, "Hortensja" was expanded - in 1921 it employed about 500 workers. It produced elegant blown and pressed glass in fashionable forms of the art deco style. She has received numerous international awards for her products. Hard working conditions and low wages (owners who sympathized with the Nazis invested most of their profits beyond the western border of Poland) resulted in numerous strikes, including 1923, 1928, 1932, 1936. Just before the outbreak of World War II, the owners of "Hortensja" "The Haeblers have left Piotrków. During the war, the factory was under German administration. In People’s Poland, the glassworks was nationalized and received the name Huta Szkła Gospodarczego "Hortensja". Almost all the old buildings have been demolished or completely rebuilt. In the 1970s, "Hortensja" employed over 2,000 people. It exported its products to approx. 120 countries. Despite the transformation into a sole proprietorship of the State Treasury in 1993, "Hortensja" did not survive the political and economic changes and at the end of the 1990s it ceased its operation.
