Vintage lounge armchair by Pierre Paulin for Artifort, Netherlands, 1960

A beautiful chaise longue model "Big Tulip", designed by Pierre Paulin, manufactured by Artifort in the Netherlands around 1950. It is an iconic design that offers exceptional seating comfort and unique style. The chair is newly upholstered in high-quality fabric by the Dutch company De Ploeg (and labelled as such), which matches the chrome-plated metal base of the cross very well. The elegant and creative shapes are inspired by the natural beauty of the tulip and translate into an ideal seating arrangement. The smooth armrests and the slightly curved seat and backrest contribute greatly to sitting comfort and make the chair a highly recognisable Paulin piece, ready to impress in any interior. It remains in very good condition, period, with minor wear corresponding to age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Pierre Paulin (1927-2009) was a French designer who embraced complexity.
