Sobre este mobiliário de design vintage

Sciolari wall lights, a pair with gold plated gilt brass frames in the Neoclassical style, 1970’s ca, Italian. These wall lights have been gently cleaned while respecting the vintage patina. They are newly rewired & PAT tested by an electrician and ready to install. These lights can be use with a dimmer. It is possible to use these lights in other countries with light bulbs suitable to local electricity. These vintage lights have the original maker’s label ’SCIOLARI ROMA’ attached behind each oval base. This elegant pair of vintage wall lights by Gaetano Sciolari are a reinterpretation of the traditional Neoclassical sconce. Key design features such as the laurel swag & finial are kept simple for a Modern clean look. They have Italian craftsmanship and attention to detail, emphasized with the use of polished & satin gilt finishes. The metal frames are quality cast and have a good weight. This design would suit a range of interiors such as Antique, Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Post Modern, or Contemporary. Laurel leaves are above all a symbol of eternal glory, of special achievement, success & triumph. The symbol of the laurel wreath traces back to Apollo and Greek mythology. In Rome they were symbols of martial victory, honor & peace. Gaetano Sciolari’s Company was based in Rome, so probably this design was influenced by this ancient symbolism. At the centre of each frame there is a cartouche oval body in satin finish with a beaded trim in polished finish. From this body a single arms reaches out. Either side there is a laurel sway. The arm has a polished finish while the laurel has a satin finish. The arm holds an ellipsoid bobeche in a polished finish with two candle cups, at the top & bottom sides. On the bobeche there is the a lamp holder & removable cover with a satin reeded finish. Under the bobeche there is a long decorative finial in polished brass, with a satin reeded finish segment at the middle . The contrast between the satin & polished finishes creates different reflections and depth. To fit these lights to the wall, each base has a grey metal oval plate with an indentation on the backside that slides onto a separate metal bracket with a hook. This separate bracket has 2 holes to screw to the wall. Each light is finished with a new clip-on black silk lampshade. These have a black silk trim and metallic gold lining. Each wall light carries one standard small screw light bulb (E14) up to 40 Watts. At present fitted & photographed with Candle Clear shaped light bulbs of 25 Watts. These are included in the price. It is possible to use other E14 bulbs Candle types. This pair of vintage sconces is in very good condition. The metal frames are sound with no damages. The finishes are in very good condition, with a light patina & tiny marks & wear in line with age. The lampshades are new and in very good condition.
