Vintage rattan and Bamboo Chandelier With Four Lights, 1960s

Exceptional, rare to find, mid-century, vintage, large, round, rattan-bamboo chandelierpendant lamp from the 1960’s, attributed to renowned, French designer and architect, Louis Sognot. Piece is round like a wheel, with vertical rattan edging, a rattan chain with adjustable rings, original shades, four (4), brass, bayonet sockets (B22) and bentwood branches of bamboo, formed like the top of a cane or umbrella. There is a mark resembling a series of small, pine trees, something certain artisans of this epoch, may have used to distinguish their work from other makers. The original "clip-shades" are made of hide that have a beautiful, brass-colored trim at the top and bottom, with some signs of time and use consistent for its age (see photos.) Please note: Each one comes with two, round-shaped "clips" at the top, that attach to a standard, round-shaped , B22 bayonet lightbulb, making it easy to switch these out for another type of clip-shade if one desired. Alternatively, each socket also comes with a ring, for mounting small shades. The piece has been photographed with both the shades & aforementioned standard round-shaped bulbs, and with flame bulbs, to highlight its attributes. One can also use other bulbs (for instance, Edison), to give the lamp a more contemporary effect, while preserving its vintage design. Chandelier is in overall excellent, original condition as it has been well-maintained over the years. ~ Light signs of age and use commensurate with time. ~ Patina consistent with age and use. Piece has been gently cleaned and polished, to preserve the original condition of the superb patina and beautiful, natural, blonde-brown colors. Functions perfectly. Easy to mount.
