Exquisite vintage Murano glass and gold dust table, Italy 1950

Exquisite table or vanity tray made of Murano glass and gold dust, in the 1950s in Italy. The rectangular body is a mirror with rounded corners, carved from a stone wheel to represent a court scene. This scene shows a couple dressed in elegant clothes, in an orderly garden with classicist architectural elements that create a complete and realistic image. The entire perimeter of the mirror is decorated with a glass rope wound on itself, with gold dust inside. On the two shorter sides there are two magnificent handles, made of gilded bronze and gilded crystal curl. On the back, a wooden lid protects the entire structure. This piece, typical of Venetian tradition, was handcrafted between 1950 and 1955 using ancient Murano production techniques passed down from generation to generation. The artisans are inspired by the models created by Barovier and Toso, a Murano glass factory in Venice whose activity began in the mid-12th century; is one of the oldest companies in the world that still produces pieces of extraordinary craftsmanship and beauty. For this reason it has always been an example and a reference model for all Murano production. This tray represents a high expression of the craftsmanship and manual skill of master glassmakers, a unique and refined work of art characterized by complex artisanal workmanship that undoubtedly fascinates and surprises.
