About this vintage design furniture
This rare egg-shaped armchair was created by Michel Pigneres in 1972. It features a transparent altuglas shell mounted on curved steel slats, fastened together by 4 large flat screws. Its seat cushion has been reupholstered in tiger velvet by Luigi Bevilacqua. The shapes and materials chosen for this armchair are strong markers of the Space Age movement, to which this creation by the French artist clearly belongs. This piece is in very good vintage condition, with a few small scratches here and there on the Plexiglas shell, barely visible with its velvet seat.
Michel Pigneres is a French furniture designer born in the 20th century. Renowned for his daring exploration of form and materials, Pigneres came to prominence in the 1970s for his distinctive creations, often characterized by bold patterns and unconventional materials, reflecting the spirit of the Space Age.
Today, his pieces, such as this "egg" armchair in lucite shell, remain highly sought-after and embody his timeless vision of design.
