Vintage model 324 sideboard in rosewood by Alain Richard for Meuble TV, France 1950

Superb modernist enfilade by French designer Alain Richard, published by Meuble TV in the 1950s. Alain Richard is one of France's greatest designers, whose creativity dazzled French furniture from the 1950s to the 1970s. Spearheading French modernism in the same way as Pierre Paulin and Pierre Guariche, he led large-scale projects such as the development of Orly airport. This enfilade model, listed 324, is in rosewood, the rarest and most sought-after of woods. It stands out for its elegance and finesse. The pedestal is divided into three compartments, including a row of four drawers and two storage spaces of different sizes. The choice of asymmetrical design was rare at the time. The wood pattern follows perfectly on the drawers. The door opening on the left-hand compartment blends perfectly with the wood grain. The interior of the pedestals is lined with glass shelves, one large one on the left and two smaller ones in the bar area on the right. The rosewood on the top and sides is magnificent. The pedestal rests on a small-diameter black-lacquered round tube base. This model is particularly interesting compared to some other formats. Visible restoration to the wood on the left side. A small chip to the glass. The handles have been comfortably modified for a series of handles reminiscent of Richard's 800 series. TV cabinet label with Alain Richard's signature inside the bar area.
