About this vintage design furniture

Lounge chair 418 by Yrjö Kukkapuro (1933), Finnish interior architect and designer. Manufactured by Haimi in Finland in the late 1960s. Constructed from a white lacquered fiberglass shell and legs. The legs have small marks on the fiber. It is dressed with a dark brown leather upholstery with its wear marks which gives it a nice patina. The designer has worked a lot on the design of seats. He has carefully studied the ergonomics and human anatomy to offer optimal comfort in these chairs. The star-shaped foot with rounded ends adds an original touch and fits perfectly into the ensemble. This version had a mechanical system to change position, which is now locked in a tilted position. The 360° rotation is smooth and fluid. This was a very technical chair to design, it was classified as high end.the Haimi stamp is present under the seat.
