Original 1930s Bukhara rug from the city of Bukhara in Uzbekistan (formerly known as Turkmenistan). The first step of the cleaning process is to carefully pat the carpet to remove any dust and mites. The subsequent pre-wash with a pH-neutral soap will remove stains. For the main wash, the carpets are carefully hand washed - a special soap protects the fibers and preserves the natural wool grease of the carpet. The first dehydration takes place by means of mechanical pressing and spinning, so that the carpets are then dried in a constant air circulation.
