About this vintage design furniture
A scarce piece of design history in the form of a desk and chair set by legendary designers Jean Prouve and Jules Leleu. France, c1936. A wall mounted desk with original desk chair. Provenance: Sanatorium Martel de Janville - a matching set is conserved in the museum of the Thirties, Boulogne-Billancourt, France. Condition: wear commensurate with age, which includes some wear to the lacquer, some distortions and undulations to the metal, wear to the wooden desk top surface. We could source a leather top to encase the wooden desk top if the desk was to be used daily. Later wooden stands have been added to aid in its support but the desk should be wall mounted to be completely original. The chair has been left in original state but warrants fresh upholstery which we can provide upon request. A similar set was sold in Wright Auctions, 9th June, 2016 achieving $13,750 plus fees. Location: Belgium Gallery. Dimensions: Desk: 169 W x 44 H x 65 D in cm. The chair: 42 D x 44.5 W x 82 Total Height in cm. Delivery: POA We can ship around the world. Can be transferred to our London or Belgium Gallery.
