About this vintage design furniture

Magnificant pair of glass table lamps model ’Arkipelago’ designed by Timo Sarpaneva for Ittala, Finland in 1978. These heavy lamps are made of solid glass with air bubbles within and reminds of giant ice cubes. Brass bulb sockets. Irregular design and great shape. Gives a lovely shine when lit. Marked with: 2962-425 and 1606665. Measures: 32.5 cmH (incl bulb socket) x ca 11.5 cmD. Very good vintage condition. Please note the lampshades are not included.

Timo SARPANEVA

Timo Sarpaneva was a Finnish designer famous for his work in glass and ceramics. Born in 1926 in Helsinki, Finland, he studied at the Helsinki School of Arts and Crafts and began working as a freelance designer in 1948.
