About this vintage design furniture

Iconic Mid-Century Modern free standing writing desk with floating tabletop This magnificent and organic shaped writers desk is designed by Louis Van Teeffelen in the 1950s for WéBé Holland and inspired by the ‘light’ Italian and Scandinavian designs of Finn Juhl, Arne Vodder, Hans Wegner, Kai Kristiansen, Poul Henningsen, Ib Kofod-Larsen. This is one of Louis van Teeffelens first designs and the reason he became world famous world wide. Very desired among collectors WéBé is an acronym for the two family names Walraven & Bevers. Two Dutch furniture-making families who joined forces in 1938 and founded WéBé in Beneden Leeuwen (the Netherlands). The company prospered in the 1950s and 1960s into one of the larger high quality furniture factories in the Netherlands, with Louis Van Teeffelen as one of their most important and best known designers. This desk is made in teak wood, partially veneered and partially solid teak Equiped with a drawer unit with 3 drawers Organic solid teak handles and original lock plates in black plastic with working locks and key ( the locks where an extra option to take back in the fifties) Beautiful details are the organic raised edge on top of the desktop in solid teak and the cross legs in solid teak with brass detailed arm On the right side is a shelf for storing books or paperwork. Ideal to place in an open space as both sides are finished. Minor traces of use on the desk top but in overall great condition
