About this vintage design furniture

This set of six chairs was designed by Gunnar Eklöf for Svenska Möbelfabrikerna Bodafors and manufactured in Sweden during the 1950s. This model 8043B is so-called "Åkerbloms chairs". At the middle of the 20th century, doctor Bengt Åkerblom, through his thesis ’Standing and Sitting Posture’, became an authority in Swedish furniture design. Åkerblom had scientifically investigated how a chair should best be designed to give the human body maximum comfort. The chair models became a bit like the "Åkerblom curve" and remained an important concept in the industry throughout the 1950s. Based on Åkerblom’s work, interior designer Gunnar Eklöf produced an aesthetic and very comfortable 8043B chairs. The frame is made from birch wood and the seat and back are molded in mahogany plywood. This model is not only light and handy, but also comfortable and modern.
