About this vintage design furniture

Set of four armchairs in chromed metal, based on the B34 model by Marcel Breuer, re-edited by the architects of Centro Studi for Matteo Grassi in the 1960s. The chairs are of a pure design with a chromed metal tubular structure. The backrest and seat are upholstered in thick fawn leather. They are stitched with a saddle stitch, a two-needle sewing technique that is highly appreciated for its strength. Each backrest is stamped "Matteo Grassi". Two metal hoops with screw threads are located underneath the armchairs. They allow, in a simple and quick way, to adjust the tension of the leather and thus the firmness of the seat. It is worth noting that the seat seems to be in suspension, due to the absence of vertical feet at the back. This design, in addition to bringing an airy spirit to these seats, also offers the advantage of flexibility: they adapt to the user's position and morphology. With their original curves, these four Matteo Grassi chairs brilliantly combine comfort and timeless design. They were originally ordered by Brown Boverie & Cie for their French headquarters in Nanterre. Period: 1960. Original condition with normal traces of age.
