About this vintage design furniture
This is a beautiful example of this, the absolute epitome of midcentury design desks. It has the space age futuristic boomerang shape, the supports held with stretchers that end in Brass ferrules, and there is a low solid gallery on the back of the top. Hidden on the reverse side is a cocktail cupboard, perfect for that drink at the end of a hard day’s work and a large open bookshelf, so that it is best seen as a freeestanding desk rather than against a wall. The grain on this desk is really superb, it lookss bettger in the flesh than in the photos, and is a fine example of highly figured Santos Rosewood, (also known as Pau Ferro, this timber originates in Bolivia). It has the latin name of Machaerium Scleroxylon, and fortunately comes from a sustainable source and therefore does not appear onthe CITES list of endangered wood species, so can be legally imported and exported without extra paperwork.
