About this vintage design furniture
Edwardian Writing Desk A classic, Edwardian British made mahogany writing table. The item, which dates back to the 1910s, has a raised back with two brass pierced galleries, drawers joined by a central shaped shelf and a base with a hinged fall front. This encloses a baize lined interior, above two frieze drawers. The table sits on square tapering legs, with an ’X’ shaped stretcher and brass feet. Writing desks first appeared in the late 17th century but became very popular in the 18th, with many of them made for the library in a house. Dimensions (cm): 74 H x 84 W x 45 D (94 overall height, 74 desk height) Condition: A very characterful piece. In very good antique condition, some signs of use and there are marks to the baize material.
