About this vintage design furniture
The Klismos chair is a historical piece of design that finds it’s origin all the way with the ancient Greeks, who were the first to produce this kind of chair. Recognized by the outwards curved legs and curved back, combined with the unique design choices. It’s on of the oldest designs that we still see in decors today What was unique about it at the time, is that the curved back was designed to follow the shape of the seated and provide additional comfort. IT was designed for comfortable seating for a longer period, as well as a graceful appearance. These well made chairs might not originate all the way from ancient Greece, they are however a beautiful example of how this design has remained relevant ever since it was invented. These chairs are from around 1950, made of high quality black painted wood with a unique webbed seat. This gives them an extra layer of style as well as additional comfort Their design is attributed to T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings. They remain in very good, vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
