About this vintage design furniture

A pair of "Zodiaque" wall sconces designed by Jacques Biny for LITA of France and dating from the 1950s. These iconic mid-century French wall lights project light through a magnifying glass, producing a concentrated light source, ideal for reading or focussed work. Consisting of a black lacquered metal base and bulb holder with a mounted polished brass hood and handle for adjusting direction, the lights are in good vintage condition, with patina and wear consistent with 60+ years of age and use (see photos). The lights have different mounting mechanisms and one has a cleaner pull-string switch than the other (these can be removed if you’re controlling from a wall switch). One light still retains the LITA label.
