Erhart Mitzlaff Born on October 22, 1916 in Kiel Died on June 9, 1991 in Bremen Painter, graphic artist and architect in the artists' village of Fischerhude
Mitzlaff spent his childhood and school years in Mannheim, where the family moved in 1918. After attending school, he studied architecture at the Technical University of Stuttgart and from 1936 to 1941 at the University of Karlsruhe under Otto Ernst Schweizer. From 1944 to 1950, he worked as a salaried architect at Brown Boveri & Cie (ABB) in Mannheim under Karl Wilhelm Ochs at Reichswerke Hermann Göring Salzgitter and at Schünemann Verlag in Bremen (post-war reconstruction). From 1940 Erhart Mitzlaff turned to the fine arts. In 1946 he moved to Fischerhude and married Ruth Kalckbremner in 1947. Mitzlaff's main works were created after the Second World War. He took an active part in the German peace movement. His artistic life's work manifests itself above all in a whole series of stained glass windows, some of which he designed for the churches built by his friend, the architect Carsten Schröck in Bremen and elsewhere.
