Rare Gispen men's armchair model 1410 designed by André Cordemeyer - Professionally upholstered and restored
Sleek in design and rare in execution: this Gispen men's high-back chair model 1410 was designed in 1959 by André Cordemeyer and is one of the less common designs in Gispen's collection. The frame is constructed from a combination of sheet steel and solid bar steel, which allowed Cordemeyer to achieve a thinner and more refined line pattern than the usual tubular frames. This enhances the elegant, graphic look of the chair.
The armrests are made of original hardwood wenge and have a characteristic trapeze shape. These have been carefully renovated by us: old coats of lacquer have been removed, the wood has been hand-sanded and then treated with a high-quality matte furniture oil. This brings the rich, warm wood color back to life beautifully.
This armchair was recently reupholstered in a stylish, deep petrol blue fabric. The upholstery is made with firm comfort foam, which preserves the clean lines of the cushions and provides the chair with a comfortable, supportive seat. The upholsterer chose a solid and durable finish to match the original design.
The matte black metal frame was carefully cleaned by us and coated with a protective metal wax, which not only makes it look beautiful but also protects it from external influences. The original rubber caps are still present and perfectly follow the angled position of the legs, providing stability and protection for the floor.
A matching ladies' version is also available in the same upholstery, with a lower back and more compact size - ideal as a set or as a subtle addition in the same style.
