The Rosita company has made a good name for itself in the field of "sound furniture", although the company was previously regarded more as a provider of "conservative" furniture design. It is therefore not surprising that the Rosita Commander Luxus, built in 1973, was a great success with the public, but also polarized public taste. The unusual and independent design (by the standards of the time) appealed to many people. The hinged plastic cover protected the record player and recorder from flying dust. Even today, young people still attribute a certain cult status to the Commander. The device is somewhat reminiscent of science fiction and a "spaceship". The hi-fi system combined radio, loudspeakers, record player and cassette recorder into a harmonious unit. The entire device could be rotated. The radio had 45 transistors (R 700 hi-fi stereo chassis from Südfunk), four loudspeakers and weighed 35 kg. The record player was a Philips GC 060 stereo device with automatic changeover, the cassette recorder was a Philips 2505 . Click on the photos Although a kind of loudspeaker grille is indicated to the left and right of the radio control panel, the sound actually comes out to the sides. This is certainly a compromise solution due to the small distances between the speakers and the height radiation to the sides.
