Beautiful vintage modular wall system designed by Poul Cadovius for CADO. Danish furniture designer Poul Cadovius was born in Frederiksberg in 1911. In 1945, he founded the furniture manufacturing company Royal System. Soon after, he got the idea to design a modular wall system. This wall system won the gold medal at the Finland Furniture Fair in 1950 and the silver medal at the XI Triennale di Milano 1957 and remains popular to this day.
The System Cado was introduced in 1960 and expanded the concept by offering furniture such as tables, sofas and beds, which could be mounted on both wall slats and large wooden panels. This system is special because of its flexibility and aesthetic appeal, and it can be arranged as desired. The system with wooden dowels was designed as part of the System Cado. This system uses wooden dowels to securely fasten the various components to the wall. The Royal System, previously introduced in 1948, uses metal brackets and rails for fastening.
The System Cado offers an elegant and flexible solution for furnishing rooms, with the wooden dowels providing a tight and stable mounting. The system has been polished and oiled, right down to the slats. It is in very good condition with few traces of use.
The system features 10 shelves including one bookshelf, 5 deep and 4 less deep shelves. In addition, there are 4 wall slats and 4 cabinet elements: one with drawers, one with sliding doors, one with glass shelves and glass doors and one with a flap with mirror and drawer. In short: a very complete modular wall system!
