Product description
A rare and refined Mezza Filigrana vase by Paolo Venini for Venini, Murano, circa 1950. Signed and documented, this model (No. 4331) is a masterclass in Venetian glass artistry. Created using the traditional *filigrana* technique with internal glass threading in delicate cyclamen tones, the vase’s soft bottle shape exemplifies the postwar elegance of Italian design.
Paolo Venini (1895–1959), a trained lawyer turned glass entrepreneur, redefined Murano craftsmanship by marrying centuries-old techniques with the minimalist language of modernism. His collaborations with Fulvio Bianconi and Carlo Scarpa brought Murano into the global spotlight.
This model was exhibited at the **XVI Venice Biennale (1956)** and illustrated in *Paolo Venini and His Furnace* (Barovier & Sonego, Skira, 2016, p. 279). While typically produced at 35.5 cm, this example has been discreetly and professionally reduced to 28.5 cm—an elegant variation preserving the vessel's proportions and its original acid-stamped signature.
A beautifully preserved and subtly unique specimen of one of Venini’s most poetic designs.
