A true Danish icon, the PH 5 table lamp designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958. This rare light fixture was manufactured in the 1960s by the renowned company Louis Poulsen.
The lamp is based on the principle of a reflective multiple screen system, which creates harmonious and 100% glare-free lighting. The white lacquered metal shades are supported by the three-piece frame and base of patinated brass. The red and blue accents create a warm look and playful character.
Poul Henningsen was a Danish writer, critic, architect and designer. He is often cited as the first true lighting architect because he devoted much of his life to exploring the importance of light for well-being. He concentrated on creating lamps that produced non-glare lighting. His best-known lamp models are the PH Artichoke, the PH 5 and the PH Contrast lamp.
The lamp is in very nice vintage condition with a nice patina on the brass. There is a small dent on the back which personally is not really disturbing (see photo). Furthermore, inside is still present the manufacturer's sticker as a sign of authenticity.
