Carl MALMSTEN

Malmsten began his career working for his father's furniture factory, but soon began creating his own pieces. He studied art and design in Stockholm, then in Paris, where he was influenced by the Art Nouveau movement.

Back in Sweden, Malmsten opened his own design studio, where he created a range of elegant furniture, from chairs and tables to wardrobes and beds. His style was often characterized by simple, uncluttered forms and natural materials such as solid wood and leather.

Malmsten also worked as a design teacher, influencing a whole generation of Swedish designers. He was one of the founders of the Capellagården School of Design, where he taught for several decades.

Over the years, Malmsten has received numerous awards for his work, including the Lunning Medal in 1954 and the Prince Eugen Medal in 1963. Today, his furniture is still highly sought-after and considered a classic piece of Swedish design.
